There's nothing genuine about the particularly version of "both sides" being pushed by Trump and his acolytes. They would have us believe that the counter-protesters are not objecting to white nationalism but instead advocating some type of non-white nationalism. I've heard Black Lives Matter and the NAACP wrongly described as merely black equivalents of the KKK and neo-Nazis, and "diversity" as supposedly code for white genocide. It's somewhat like fundamentalist Christians who act like the only other option is opposition to fundamentalist Christianity.
