My empathy for Bernard has its limits, given his tendency to present himself as above the sleep-teaching.
Interesting that Huxley has the male leads (Helmholtz, Bernard, John) perceive themselves as not fitting in to their societies, John as an ill fit for two societies. Of the female leads, only Lenina seems to question what she was taught, and in a relatively mild way.
