Yeah, that's a part of grading on the "this was written in the 1930s" curve. The sexism isn't the point, it's just so heavily baked in.
And, I know where Bernard Marx is going as a character. I know he's going to make me hate him, even as I pity him. But, I also know that I'm going to be a little defensive of him. Because, where he goes as a character is going to be places that I've already gone.
