Excellent analysis. An even better comparison of the scene would be the very common anti-atheist straw man. The one that assumes that without a god, life would have no meaning. Huxley imagines a world where death has no meaning. He throws it in our faces while jumping up and down madly, yelling “See? See?” The scene is so cartoonishly extreme that it’s difficult to know exactly why Huxley wants us to be horrified. The literary equivalent od the person who gets worked up over an issue without directly acknowledging their emotional investment in it, and becomes reduced to red-faced sputtering.
