You're not the only one to disagree with my first point. And, perhaps, it could have been better stated as Dr. Morgan longs for mortality. But, I still stand that we're at least told that he bemoans his immortality.

And, I remember the episode you're talking about where he recognized cosmetic surgery. He wasn't exactly dealing with the styles of surgery that were common while he was practicing. Sure, he might have medical journals, as many doctors do. But, keeping up with the medical times...

That's an issue that was raised better in The Man From Earth, in which the immortal in that movie had a medical degree back in the 19th century, so he didn't practice as he was out of date. Getting even the medical knowledge necessary to practice today would require going through the schooling all over again... which he could do.

The Man From Earth is a movie about a man, leaving his tenured professorship for initially unknown reasons, but confessing that he was what is now called cro magnon man, and has just lived, without aging, for tens of thousands of years. The rest is a conversation with them trying to prove that wrong and he not able to prove that accurate. It's well done.
