I think that this show would need a complete re-engineering to be accepted today.
For example, a business woman imprisoned in a bottle by a colleague who sees her as a dangerous competition. He throws the bottle to the sea hoping to get rid of it but someone releases it and she comes back looking for revenge. However, it has been 5 years. They all considered her dead. She has no choice but to accept the help of her new master. This savior can not free her either, since her bond with the bottle is strong. On a daily basis she needs to recharge her power in the bottle for a few hours because otherwise she dissolves painfully in order to be locked up again.
