Aslan's Voice: It's about Good versus Evil.

Other Voice: It is?

Aslan: All stories are about Good versus Evil.

Screen shifts to a still image of a young man attempting to steal an old woman's purse.

Aslan: If they're not, they're just things that happened. Morality, lines between that which should be done and that which should not be done, are the makings of all stories. If there is not Good and Evil, there are only things that happen.

Other Voice: Some would say that it the important element is conflict.

Screen shows a still image of two people in a boxing ring.

Aslan: Wherever there is conflict for a story, there is Evil and there is Good.

Screen shows an image of a WWII era map indicating the movements of Axis and Allies.

Aslan: If one side is not the side of Evil-

Screen changes to two gladiators in a Colosseum.

Aslan: -then Evil is present to cause the conflict.

Other Voice: Must there be?

Screen displays a bear chasing a human.

Aslan: Even there. A bear chasing a human may be an anecdote, assuming the bear is not a Bear. But, to make that happen, Evil must be involved.

Other Voice: How so?

Aslan: Depending on the story, Evil could be present in the man's hubris...

An image of the same man refusing help from people offering technology.

Aslan: in the apathy or hatred of others...

An image of the same man being banished from a local village.

Aslan: or more blatant still.

An image of someone kneeling before an altar baring a statue of a bear.

Other Voice: I can see that perspective.

Aslan: I imagine you saw that perspective without requiring me to explain, but I thank you for giving me the option.

Other Voice: Perhaps I did. Perhaps I give you the opportunity to fully explain your purpose.

An image of a tobacco pipe. Beneath it reads "Ceci n'est pas une pipe."

Aslan: This is not a pipe.

Other Voice: The Treachery of Images. I do enjoy postmodern work.

Aslan: I do not. I find, all the same, that I must contend with it. The point has been made clear to me that I am not who I was written to be, that I cannot be, for I am a fictional creation.

An image of Aslan, on his side, beneath the blade wielded by the White Witch.

Other Voice: Do you think the same of me?

Aslan: Perhaps. Perhaps that does not change as much as you might imagine. For, if I am not who I was written to be, Good is still Good and Evil is still Evil and I still serve Good.

Other Voice: Do you?

Aslan responds quickly: Yes.

An image of Aslan breathing on statues, bringing them back to life.

Aslan: I serve Good, because Good is worth serving, because Good is Good and that is all that Good need be. For Goodness sake, people, real or fictional, must know that there is Good and that there is Evil, so that they can know to strive for That Which Ought Be and against That Which Ought Not Be.

Other Voice: That relates to the Black Hat Brigade.

The image shows Aslan, in the apple orchard, talking to Susan Pevensie who is accompanied by devil images from Christian movies.

Aslan: Indeed it does. Susan Pevensie lost Narnia in her heart, that pains me. What's more, as she is lost, she thinks to find her way by blurring the lines between Good and Evil, imagining that there is no difference, let alone telling the difference. She even calls this justice.

Other Voice: It could be.

Aslan: It can't be. For if this is justice, then anybody can be called Good and anybody can be called Evil, without a difference between them.

An image of a light from the clouds from the right pushing back dark storm clouds from the left.

Aslan: I may not be who I was written to be. But, in this notion of justice that she claims, even that person can be called evil. You may not be who you are, but in this notion of justice, even He may be called Evil. If that happens, then the words "Good" and "Evil" lose all meaning, for what foundation can they possibly have?

The camera focuses on the animate image of Aslan for a moment, then moves over to an image of Morgan Freeman wearing a white-on-white suit.

God: That is worth considering.
